After ten years, you can imagine that Steve and I have probably exhausted date ideas. However, we are always coming up with new and fun things to do to break up the monotony.
We’ve done murder mystery evenings, funfairs, theme parks and more – but sometimes these can take a big old hit on the wallet. As yuou know we are passionate about saving and making money – not spending it frivolously – so we are always looking for affordable – or perhaps even free – date ideas!
We live in Hertfordshire but we’ve been trying to do some more travelling as a family. Steve and I have also been trying to make more breaks away as a couple, getting time for just us and asking our parents to look after the kids. Somewhere we’ve been thinking about heading this Autumn for a few days and nights is Hampshire – it’s where Steve’s mum is originally from and there is plenty of autumnal date ideas we can take part in whilst there. Hampshire Dating is something we cannot wait to take part in – especially when there is plenty to do for free.

Perhaps the most obvious and free date idea is a trip through the New Forest. It is such a beautiful place and there is plenty to do. You can take a lovely relaxing stroll or even participate in some archery!
If culture is your thing, a look round Winchester Cathedral may be more up yours and your dates street. With beautiful stained glass windows, a rich history and plenty to see and do, why wouldn’t the cathedral be on your list of top date ideas?
Are you a romantic? Do you love Jane Austen novels? You may not know this but the county of Hampshire is full of locations from Jane Austen’s novels. Did you know that Jane Austen used to live in Winchester? If you didn’t, perhaps you might want to consider popping by her old house with a date and getting your photo taken with it. It is a picture perfect location, for sure.
Of course, even if you’re away from home, you don’t have to go out out to enjoy time together. You can have just as much of a fun time, staying in – drinking a steaming hot chocolate with whipped cream and marshmallows and watching a film together. Perhaps a meal and a drink at the bar – doesn’t food taste so much better when you aren’t being forced to share it with your toddler?
We’re hoping to head down together at the beginning of half term, fingers crossed family will look after the kids so Steve and I can check out some of the places I’ve mentioned above. As a big book fan, I am definitely excited to visit Jane Austen’s house!
