Could A Four Day Work Week Change Your Life?

Collaborative Post

Being self employed and working from home means I set the hours I work. I would love nothing more than to be able to work 9-5 at home but whilst Jack is still at home and we’re not earning enough for childcare, that just isn’t feasible. With that in mind, could a four day work week change your life?fourdayworkweek

Steve currently works shift work for 7 days then has 3 or 4 days off. 7 days at 12 hours a pop leaves him feeling utterly exhausted so one of his days off basically gets ruled out anyway – he is too tired to do anything or go anywhere! Although his job requires someone there at all times, I’m sure him and his colleagues would benefit from a four day work week – and it seems like 57% of UK adults support implementing such a change too.

There is a fantastic infographic over on the GoToMeeting website sharing the positives and the pitfalls on such a working week and where the change has garnered some success or failed miserably. I personally think that a four day work week could go either way – it could go well and be a really positive experience or it could fail – and fail miserably. It would be interesting to see how the country would adapt to the change if it was enforced – I’m not sure what some of the population would think about it!

Do you think you would benefit from a four day work week?
