Thinking About Investments

Surprisingly for a personal finance blogger, investments and stocks & shares are something I’ve never really talked about on the blog mainly because I’ve never really considered buying any until recently. I was a lot younger when I first started getting interested in personal finance and didn’t understand much about them so preferred to stay away until I had done my own research. However, as me and Steve both near 30, they are a topic that arise quite often.

I’m still unsure about what is good to invest into and how much. I know there are websites you can check share prices on – my cousin who lives in New Zealand can check the ANZ share price quite often using a specific site – and I am steadily collecting more information so we are totally informed when we decide to invest some of our money.

As we get older, we are looking to maximise our income potential and know that an initial outlay may be needed. As we move into our later life, we want to have some financial stability and investments seem like a good idea. There are quite a few companies whose ethics and ideals speak to us and knowing that we can receive a dividend income from investing in our belief in them is something we are keen to do. Some personal finance bloggers are using stocks & shares/investments to help fund them an early retirement but if they can even just help us to live a financially comfortable life as we get older, we would be happy.

It will take a while to build up a portfolio, we know that, and we know that we need to go into this knowing everything but luckily there are plenty of resources out there to help us. Whether it is websites who show share prices so we can keep updated in real time or whether its turning to other personal finance bloggers, this is another chapter in our lives that I am both excited for and interested to see where it leads.

Have you ever thought of buying stocks and shares?
