How To Create And Grow A Blogging Community

Collaborative Post

You can’t operate a successful blog without fostering an amazing community. A lot of new bloggers make the error of focusing on bringing new viewers and readers to their site. This is something you should aim to do, but you ultimately need a community to form your loyal base of supporters. With a community, you’re guaranteed to have a selection of people reading your posts every single day. This means constant viewership, which comes in handy when you’re monetizing your blog. Adding in the newbies will always be a top priority, but it’s pointless if you aren’t trying to create and grow a community.

On that topic, here are some suggestions and tips that will help you establish a community that keeps on growing:

Write about the same things

A good way to lay the foundations of a community is to start writing about the same sort of things all the time. This ensures you keep bringing the same sort of people back to your site. If you blog about motherhood, you quickly get a selection of mothers coming to read your posts. The idea is that you focus your blog on a topic, targeting a specific audience. This way, the audience members have something in common, making it more likely they will comment on posts and interact with one another.

Create an external community away from your blog

Next, you have to find somewhere for your community to all get-together and hang out. Your website acts as the place people go to engage in your content. But, between posts, you want to have a community that talks to one another and creates discussions. This is where it makes sense to create an external community away from your blog for everyone to hang out. A lot of bloggers will use Discord, but you can get proper world-leading community software to set this up as well. Both ideas will help you have a portal of sorts for people to join and become active members of a community. You’ll post in this portal as well, providing updates on your next posts, etc. It is an easy way to help build a thriving community where people get on with one another.

Be active in your community

Finally, you need to be active in your community if you want it to grow. As mentioned above, post in your community portal to keep people updated on your next blogs. Or, more importantly, make your community feel valued. Ask them for opinions or blog topic suggestions. You could even set up things like community movie night where you stream a film for everyone to watch together. If people are aware that you’re very active with your audience, they are more likely to a) visit your blog and read your content, and b) become active members of your community. Thus, the community will grow.

Ultimately, this is all about establishing a loyal supporter base. If you think of your blog as a business, your community is basically your customer base. You will have loyalists that read all your posts, share them, and help you grow your blog and make more money.
