Saving Money On Water

For me, saving money on water couldn’t be more relevant right now. We’ve just been hit with a much higher bill than normal and will be contacting the water company to try to figure out why. It is astounding what water pressure problems can mean for consumers  – in not just the financial sense.

Water pressure problems just keep on increasing, causing problems of both wastage and financial woe to the consumer. Most households have suffered water pressure problems in the past and we believe we are suffering with it now. An easy test can be done to find out if your household has water pressure problems – simply take a measuring jug (preferably 1-2l in size), put the problem tap or shower on fully and time how long it takes to fill the jug up fully. Then input the data into the test. It will tell you if you have water pressure problems – and it is something I am going to try out tomorrow!

Recent research has shown how much water different sized families use and on which activities. It is quite interesting to see where water is being used the most.

Some areas of England have shown unsustainable levels of water consumption meaning that there is sometimes a strain on water resources which thus lead to limitations on water usage. So how can we take this information to ensure some money saving on our water usage?

1. Check your water pressure

You may be paying over the top for a service you are not receiving. Do the easy test from the people at Salamander Pump’s new venture Water Pressure Problems to see if your water isn’t exactly how it should be.

2. Make sure to turn all taps completely off when not in use.

It is obvious that big families will use more water but all it needs is for one person to continually leave taps running or dripping and that is your water (and money) going down the drain.

We’ve been suffering really badly with water problems recently…please take steps to ensure the same doesn’t happen to you!
